Zinnia | Chelsea Restaurant & Cocktail Bar

Zinnia: A genus of 20 species of annual and perennial shrub plants of the family Asteraceae, stretching across approximately 6,100,641 miles of greater America. And a restaurant in Chelsea.

A decadent quasi-castle of glass, brass furnishings, stone bench tops and red suede banquettes set out over three floors of a beautiful Georgian building, Zinnia’s brought modern Japanese fusion cuisine and cocktails to West London.

To get there you’ll need to walk down the part of Fulham Road that looks like it’s not on Fulham Road. And when you arrive – assuming that you’re heading there for lunch – you’ll be able to sample the kitchen’s Japanese fusion bento boxes, Asian pastries and flora teas… before subsequently deciding that you should probably also go for dinner.

At which point you’ll enter, again, and head straight to the ground floor cocktail bar which, thanks to its mirrored underside, looks as though it’s levitating. There you’ll be able to satisfy your palate with a drinks menu that specialises in Japanese whisky, sake and wine before heading upstairs, nestling into a booth and eating in the cosy restaurant section overlooking their Japanese wall gardens.

After sharing mains like Szechuan-glazed pork belly and desserts like coconut and mango-glazed panna cotta spheres, you’ll then likely want to pop down to Zinnia’s lower ground lounge, where you’ll be able to relax on leather couches and sip on plum dessert wine surrounded by smoked glass and, most importantly, the smell of rich, rich mahogany.
