Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings

Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings | Greenhouse Dining in Clerkenwell

Someone contacted us recently to claim that we don’t understand irony.

Which was ironic because Bourne & Hollingsworth – the creative types behind Fitzrovia’s Bourne & Hollingsworth bar, The Blitz Party, The Prohibition Party and lots of other things that many Londoners enjoy – have opened a restaurant and bar in Clerkenwell.

It’s called Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings, it’s located just off Exmouth Market…and when you go inside, you’ll feel like you’re still outside.

Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildingsc

This is thanks in large part to the restaurant – where executive chef Matthew Harris serves up a relaxed menu of contemporary British fare and bottomless brunches – being located inside a greenhouse that’s filled with cane garden furniture, hanging baskets, fully grown trees and trailing creepers. To help you picture it, just think back to the last time you found yourself eating tempura vegetables with lemon grass purée and dark chocolate tart with pecan brittle inside an abandoned country house where the gardens and the state rooms had slowly grown into one another.

Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings is just like that.

B&H Buildings

In addition there’s also The B&H Kitchen, a private dining room that doubles as a workshop and masterclass studio; Below & Hidden, a deeply snug, late-night drinking den covered with crazy LED-illuminated Medieval tapestries; and the Café, a relaxed dining and working space that transforms into a bar come the evening. In there you’ll find Mr. Steve Georgiou maintaining Bourne & Hollingsworth’s sterling reputation for drinksmithery by serving up cocktails with names like “The Apricot Smash” and ‘The Eton Fizz”.

That’s all before you even get to the events programme at Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings, which includes candlelit supperclubs; cooking classes (where you get to immediately eat your homework); and their annual Burns Night party, which sees a load of Londoners get together in honour of the Scottish bard, drink whisky, and eat haggis.

Which is also ironic.

NOTE: Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings is open Wed-Sun. You can find out more, and reserve a table, HERE.
