Someone will die.

That’s how this story ends.

However it begins, like all good stories, with you purchasing a ticket to dine at Marco’s Meatballs, an alternative Italian dining experience launching at the epicentre of London’s annual, subterranean celebration of theatre and ideas, VAULT Festival. And it continues, like all of the best stories, with you then choosing which of the festival’s 500+ shows you’d like to enjoy on the night that you decide to visit, and booking tickets to attend those, too.

On arriving at The Vaults underneath Waterloo station you’ll be greeted by an Italian waiter.

He’ll lead you to Marco’s through an abandoned, underground maze of Victorian tunnels, during which time you’ll be surrounded by a cornucopia of exciting musical and theatrical happenings; dance and comedy events; discussions and debates; workshops and one-off, late night parties. This is where you’ll be coming back to after dinner, in order to enjoy whatever you’ve bought tickets for… whether that be Filter Theatre Company’s modern adaptation of Macbeth; True Brits (an exploration of multicultural London); comedy from Cirque du Soleil’s Red Bastard; or Superbolt Theatre’s epic Man vs. Monster adventure, Jurassic Park.

Anyway you’ll quickly find yourself inside what appears to be an early 1990’s Italian restaurant, replete with red and white chequered tablecloths and the obligatory photographs on the wall of the Italian proprietor posing with a variety of celebrities. You’ll be served the finest plate of spaghetti meatballs on the planet, plus a glass of wine (or two, if you say “The Nudge sent me”)…

… and then someone will die.

NOTE: VAULT Festival runs from 28th January – 8th March 2015 at The Vaults, Waterloo. It’s impossible for us to summarise everything that’s going on, which doesn’t matter because the VAULT Festival people have done it for you right HERE.
