Barnyard

Barnyard | Soho Restaurant

NOTE: Sadly, Barnyard has now closed. On the upside, it’s become a Senor Ceviche, and Ollie Dabbous has moved on to his new restaurant, HIDE.

Some time after launching the rip-roaring, runaway success story that is Dabbous (a small table for which, if you’re interested, has apparently just become available in April, 2019) Ollie Dabbous decided – as many a Michelin-starred chef has before him – to open a second restaurant.

His problem, though, was one of “meeting expectations”: how could he launch Dabbous, The Sequel without having to cook in two places at the same time?

Well the answer, as it transpired, was simple. He met the creator of “Dolly The Sheep” and had himself cloned.

It all went down without a hitch, however as Ollie’s clone is still only three months old he was quickly forced to rethink his approach, come up with a new restaurant concept and hire a new chef.

Who wasn’t him.

The result is Barnyard, a place which is nothing at all like Dabbous largely by virtue of the following two facts:

1) It’s basically “Little House On The Prairie”, on Charlotte Street. Achieved through combining reclaimed timber and corrugated tin with white picket fencing and an upbeat, country n’ blues playlist, it actually does feel a little like being in a small barn. With lots of other people.

2) The head chef here isn’t Ollie Dabbous, but Joseph Woodland. Woodland. A strong name, and one which fits perfectly with both Barnyard’s arcadian theme and his relaxed menu of dishes like homemade sausage rolls; barbecued grain-fed short rib; crispy chicken wings; bubble n’ squeak and for dessert… warm chocolatey waffles, and popcorn ice cream with smoked fudge sauce.

NOTE: Sadly, Barnyard has now closed. It’s now Senor Ceviche
